I would stick with the 51D. I have recently switched back to the Schilke 51D from the 52E2 on my Willson 2900 simply because the tone has a much more centered core to it on the 51D. The Schilke 51D to me is much more comfortable on the face with a little bit thicker rim unlike the thinner 52E2, which is some ways will effects the tone a bit. I would also like to add that the Willson 2900 model was also tested with the 51D mouthpiece (Willson 2900 comes with there version of a 51D) in mind when they were tweaking and improving this model. So I would suggest to stay with a 51D mouthpiece on this model of euphonium, but each person is built a little bit differently. Just my two cents, and good luck!
