In one of the Colombo movies, he's investigating some murders that are connected loosely to the L.A. Phil. At one point, he runs by a guy in the Music Center lobby who is teaching little kids about the tuba (he's playing a sousaphone). The kids want Colombo to play, so Colombo sits down with a piston horn and starts churning out improv melodies. Then he and the teacher start playing duets together and walk out of the hall with the kids following them. I think this is one of the greatest moments in movie history, and I'm guessing the REAL players were Tommy Johnson and Roger Bobo. I'm sure that more informed people could tell me the real truth.
