I agree with Rick (Did I just say that?). If it works, who cares? For the sake of argument, take a look at his sax. Perhaps, it is a vintage Conn that he's stuck metal resonators on the pads or something else non-original. Perhaps he's playing with a modern mouthpiece or has a Buescher that has the snap-in pads replaced with shellaced pads. Did they use hot glue to put in his pads? Hopefully, something like these possibilities have occured. Shouldn't these things be Sacrilegious to him? Call him on it. Of course, you don't want to lower yourself to the level of a sax player, do you?
If the 20J plays in tune with a bit, great. Many folks use one or three tuning bits with a sousaphone that came with two. If it is a King sousa a want one bit. Food for thought.
