You are entering dangerous ground. My advice would be to take it to a qualified repairman and have him show you how to do it. It is not like pulling piston valves where you can't hurt anything. Do it now before you have a basket case or worse, have damaged some parts. It ain't exactly rocket science, but there are techniques, proper tools and skills needed.
