I've played Rudys for 15 years and I admit I may be biased, but having played Meinl Westons every now and then I prefer the Rudys. The MWs seem to have greater resistance and less tonal flexibility. All the Rudys I've played have great response and are capable of lots of tonal shading. The Rudys are truely hand made horns. In college we had seven or eight Rudys in our studio and as an experiment we removed all the main tuning slides. None of the slides would fit any other tuba save the one it came from and they were all shaped differently! I have played some very impressive MW's and the are excellant horns, but Rudy is hard to beat.
