I think it was Mary Ann Craig that I first saw do this, but have seen many since... insulating pipe wrap. The foam stuff you can get at the hardware store to help keep pipes from freezing. Not the wired stuff, but simple foam tubes to fit over your hand grip. I have also seen people build a side rest (against your index finger) out of this material, as well. It is cheap, easy to work, and electrical tape will hold it in place. Look at some pictures of Gail Robertson's horn from the Disney days. Good luck solving your problem.
