I thought the placement was correct. Brandon Jones has a big tone -- especially in the lower register, but his intonation was off some in the low register.

I thought Matt taking the "Carnival of Venice" piece so fast hurt him some. Could have been cleaner if taken a bit slower.

Martin Cochran did a great job all around. Someone said he's a Ph.D. candidate? He played with real confidence.

Congratulations to all three. I was sitting next to Joe Dollard of the U.S. Navy Tuba-Euphonium Quartet who said anyone of these three players would have won the competition 10 or 12 years ago.
