I have a Sony VAIO and they have a proprietary recording format known as OpenMG. This format creates, when a CD is recorded, a number of three times that you can "check-out" the song. I just bought a new MD player and once you check the song out, you can check it back in. I haven't heard anything about this protection on a CD. But, I have a friend that has a program called, "BLIND COPY". This program copies the protection and song. Everything on the CD. They have used it to copy Playstation games. I'm not sure, but I haven't run into any problems with this new protection software.
