The last night of camp at Transylvania Music Camp one year in the late '60's, a lot of the brass players at the camp joined the camp bugler to play along with the "call to quarters", which was a really lousy bugle call usually done by a solo trumpet. The twenty or so mixed brass players were so loud that we were heard a mile or so from camp, and we disrupted an opera rehearsal that was underway several hundred yards away in the auditorium. Not content to be irritating once, we played it several more times, tried harmonizing it with mixed success, and finally played it in unison with as much volume as humanly possible before the camp director sent word that we had better get to our cabins immediately.
