Well, when I was in high school in California in the early '60's we had a drum major we all thought a prissy, vain, but weak, martinet. (sounds contradictory -- it was); he had been chosen because he was a major-league brownnose and was thoroughly disliked. Anyway, whenever he came out on the field, the band spontaneously played a few recognizable bars of Jimmie Dodd's "Mickey Mouse March" or, for variety, Spike Jones' "Der Fuehrer's Face". We were all threatened high and low, but participation was virtually complete and the Superintendent of Schools (whose son was in the band) had the same view of the kid as we did and thought the whole thing hilariously funny.
