Both of the Alex's I have owned. The first I bought in high school from Paul Destito for $900.00. It had been owned and played by Chester Roberts in the Cleveland Orchestra. It was a BBb/CC. If you changed the main tuning slide and 4th valve slide it switched. It was HUGE and had a nebulous pitch center, but it had a glorious sound. I sold it to Don Harry in 1979. The second I bought in 1987. Just a basic 163 with 4 valves. It played incredibly well in tune. I sold it to a guy in Texas, one of Dave Kirks students. I would pay alot of bread to get the first one back!!!!!!! If anyone has an Alex with a slighty damaged bell garland in front and a vented 1st valve that you may have bought from Don Harry, let me know!!!! Ah, Youth.....
