I had a lesson with Mr. Jacobs just a few months before he died, and at the end, he motioned to my 822 F and said,"let me see that thing". I handed him my horn, and for about a minute and a half, he proceeded to bugle around and play fanfares that more core sound and musical character than anyone I have ever heard. Hearing him (in his frail condition) sound like that through sheer musical conviction was worth more than the rest of the lesson.
