Anyway, if you can't get it in tune down there, go for the fingering that gives you the most uniform tone colour. Most people (including players of high-pitched instruments) will not percieve bad tuning in that kind of range and lower unless it's given to them 'in their face'. By making the note the same tone colour as the ones around it, at least you wont bring attention unnessecarily to the note, and your bad tuning might pass unnoticed. If you're lucky.
