Could very well be the reason for the less responsive notes!
You might have told, that you are living in a far out diasphora, when it comes to tubas.
Still try to have some other tuba player test your MW46 with his/hers own mouthpiece.
And try to have a test yourself with a mouthpiece, that has a properly sized shank.
As for which mpc to take, I can not be very helpful with advices, as I would use my PT-50 even for the MW46. Hardly a standard choice.
