My (1974) Miraphone also has nylon socket linkage that gets noisy now and then. Usually it's because something is getting loose.

I've had luck with a few things:

- Put a dab of STP on the ball that fits into the nylon socket. This was recommended by Miraphone's instructions that came with the horn, so I feel OK that it won't ruin the nylon. STP is about the consistency of honey, so it "cushions" the linkage as mentioned in another post.

- I also got the Brass Bow to tap Allen screws into the tops of the valves, as Brian mentioned in another post. These eliminate any play between the top linkage and the shaft of the valve.

- If your links are like mine, they have adjustment screws. Touch them up enough to take out the play, but don't go too tight.

- If you have adjustment screws in the lower valve cap, touch them up too. Easy does it.

- If all else fails, install new links.

Hope this helps.

Dennis
