If you should be able to produce the superhuman stamina to read my innumerable postings on the topic (all of them initiated by other boarders), you might find that rare little nugget saying, that strategically added weight actually removes camouflaging clouds of dust from your sound.
As I see it, added weight is not a tool to shortcut practising routines, but a way to come closer to ones ideals of sound. At least if they resemble those of a non-soloist, all ensemble player, like me.
