If memory serves, Uranis was discovered mathamaticly because it could not initially be seen from earth, but it being there caused certain disruptions in Saturns orbit, giving astronimers what they needed to locate this other planet. ANd Pluto being discovered a simular way.
If I'm wrong correct me, Astronamy was a class I took 2 semesters ago :)
