That car wash idea actually seems like a good idea, to me. Assuming you're ultra careful, that is.. have you actually tried this?
I generally fill my bathtub with hydrogen peroxide(costs about I pay about $3 each for 5 gallon jugs of the stuff... 6 jugs is PLENTY.. can probably be done with 3 or 4, unless you have a monster BAT), and set the horn down in there for a half hour or so. I then take my custom made tuba snake(made from a 6 foot long pipe cleaner, and my former girlfriend's cheerleading pom poms), and scrub it out nice and good(while still in the alcohol. I then do the same thing, but with the bathtub filled with water, and a clean snake. Afterwards, I use my detachable shower head like a garden hose to rinse out the tubing.
