About the Alexander F tuba. It was picked for me in 1977 by Bob Tucci at the factory. It is still the best Alex F I have ever played. I like it much more than any Perantucci F that I have played. I do recommend that my students buy the Perantucci Fs or the new Meinl Westons just because I think they are the most consistent horns. Why did I switch to the Hirsbrunner after 20 years. I took both tubas into my hall and recorded them for an hour. I thought both tubas sounded great and I could make the Hirsbrunner match the Alex, so I bought it. I also compared the Perantucci 10P with the Hirsbrunner but I got hand cramps from I assume the valve placement. I still play my Alexander CC after 24 years. If I ever found a tuba I thought was as good I would buy it. But I won't sell my CC.
