Being grateful about all of the answers, Joe is the one coming close.

My original question had been inspired by som old catalogue of Conn’s, where student line saxes had detachable bottom bows mounted with some semi hard rubber ring as a seal.

Furtherly I have met a bass bone player who had butchered an old Sovereign for teh red brass bell, and stil another bell, for his basically Bach with Thayer valves model.

He had the 2 additional bells refitted with the female recevers of the tuning slide, and of course with an assortment of clamps. So he had ended up with an instrument with 3 different bells, which was very good for his job in a regional pro symph orchestra, where the overall texture at least numerally was very changing, according to the number of extras.

I am in to position to afford tubaistic experiments along this line. But the perspectives could be interesting.
