The arbans has many beginner exercises but progresses quickly, but most player start using it in high school if not earlier. Nothing is so hard it cant be played at half speed or down an octave. I also recommend getting the trumpet version and learning treble clef. The trombone edition is MISSING many of the best selections such as duets and "tunes" and has mistakes and the newer tuba edition is great escept where the editor has edited the parts for breaths, he has not provided the original notes so that one can make ones own decisions. but I love the format with the spriral binding and the font is clear. also check out the st. jacome method, similar.
