I am scheduled to play in a brass ensemble in church next Sunday. I am gonna be playing a Trombone 2(Tuba) part. We all know how that goes. Anyway, it will most likely include an organ.

My question: in instances such as this where the bass part is usually doubled, in this case by the organ, would it be wise to play the 2nd Trombone part as written on tuba or take it down an octave. I've played in places before where the organ basically covered up the tuba part. I think it MAY diversify things more to keep the trombone part as is on tuba rather than taking it down.

I would very much like to know what some of you would do in this case.

Thanks,

Jason
