I have 3 F's, none of which you mention. The F I use the most is the Yamaha 822S. This isntrument is a GREAT F tuba. Huge sound, superior pitch, great low notes. I use it's smaller sibling (621) for solo works, and for Italian Opera stuff, where a Cimbasso would be called for. I just did "Aida" on it and it makes PLENTY of sound. My pride & joy is my Anton Dehmal 6-valve f. This is my 'Bydlo' horn. I also use it on Petrushka solo, and Mahler 1 solo. It is small and light and sings like a bird. The 'modern' F's that I have played seem rather large and heavy and are trying to be big CC's with easier high notes. My approach to the F tuba is that it is a different instrument, and is played not at all like a CC.
