Anything that gets you playing 3x's as much is a good idea. I've had periods where I haven't been able to practice much due to living constraints (Apt building) and spend 30-45 minutes a day on the mouthpiece. After a few weeks of this, not only had I maintained my chops, but I think my intonation was better. If the mouthpiece alone can do this,why buy a silent system? Because it could be fun, there's no harm in trying if it motivates you and you can always sell it for near market value on ebay. I almost forgot...I have stock with Yamaha...
Go for it is what I say... just my opinion
