No. Dvorak was not generous to the tuba. The 7th is one of his greatest pieces with wonderful trombone parts. No tuba. We're all too familiar with New World. In the 8th Symphony, the tuba seems a mere afterthought. The Cello Concerto has some nice spots, and there a things to play in the various tone poems and overtures. The best tuba writing comes in the 6th Symphony, and it's a really cool piece. Hasn't been of interest to very many of our lazy complacent conductors and concert managers, although audiences always react well to it.
