in most situations i run into as a school rep for a music store,i usually recommend the king 2341(4 pv symphony bass).these play reasonably well ,are very durable, reasonably priced, can be marched with an optional bell-front(these are detatchable bell horns).there are many options available of course but for all around institutional use these are hard to beat.though they have a relatively small bore(689),they have a large bell(19") which,in my opinion, somewhat makes up for the bore,in terms of size of sound.availability of parts and a domestic factory for waranty work are also things to be considered in a school horn(no trips to germany if there's a warranty problem).i sound a lot like a salesman, don't i ? :)
