Why then do professinal soloists play on F's and Eb's for upper range? I don't know if this is true or not but I do know that when I play on my Bb my range is not as high as when I play on my C or on an F tuba. Then again it might have something to do with the fact that the Bb was a atudent model Mirafone and the CC was a professinal Perantucci PT-3. I do agree to a extent however because I know from listening to Gene Porkorny that you can play just as high on a huge 6/4 CC as a small F if the player is experienced. It does depend on the player of the instrument but the instrument can help out some(or a lot) for amateurs and college students. Just my two cents.
