I think it's an interesting idea but you would need to pursue it for all brass instruments, there wouldn't be enough volume in tubas to pay the bills but in theory you might be able to make it up in trumpets, trombones, and horns.

Being in Nashville as well I've been perplexed at how difficult it is to find good brass instruments around here.

I've heard of a guy who lives off of Tyne Blvd (very high-end real estate for you non-Nashvillians)that has a house full of vintage brass instruments. The rumor I heard is that you have to sign a contract with him that should he decide that he wants an instrument that you purchased from him back that you will sell it back to him for the original purchase price. One person that I play with actually had him "call" the deal two years later. I've heard he still plays with the Belmont U band and has for a couple of decades.

BTW -- do you know a good brass tech around here that knows a tuba from a hole in the ground?
