Well, I own a PT-50, used to play on a Bach 18 (great mouthpiece), and in a music college now. I cannot judge if what you got is too much because I don't know your talent. It' kind of a suprise that you got a big horn with a big mouthpiece. But if you are a serious player and would want to go to college for it, then do it.

Ok, well, let me tell you DON'T use the Bach 18 for that horn. I own a PT-3 and used the Bach 18 on it, throughout my senior year in highschool, my horn was sharp because the mouthpiece was in all the way. So I decided to get the biggest tuba in the PT's (PT-50) and now my horn is in tune. The big mouthpiece darkens the tone and works the heck out of your lips. It's worth it though. It took me a while to get used to it, but I like bigger mouthipieces now. Good luck. :.)
