Look for a school with a large community of tuba players. i went to a school where I was one of the few low brass players at the school. I did a lot of playing in ensembles, because there was no one else to do it, but looking back on it I wish there would have been more competition and comradery (sp?)in the low brass studio. just a thought. On the opposite end I guess you could get into a school that is too big and you would get lost in the crowd. If you really want to get into performance look for a school where you can make connections. if you want to do the Music Ed thing look into school which is geared more towards that like a state university or state college. There is a big difference in philosphy between music ed and music performance schools. ken k
