All things equal (they rarely are), I would most likely get the Rudolph Meinl. I like the sound of these tubas and Rudolph Meinl's workmanship is impressive (a tuba that can last a lifetime). I am in not knocking Kalison, the Kalison may work better for you. The bottom line is, try both tubas and if possible bring both tubas to a rehersal. Also, Jay Bertolet is an excellent source of information about Rudolph Meinl tubas (he plays one) and mouthpieces for them.
