The single best schools are the rare ones that have world class teachers with small studios. The ones that jump out at me are Curtis, Cleveland Institute of Music, and NEC. I know there are many more, (there are always more), so I hope I don't offend anyone by leaving out there school. The reason these schools are so great for us is because they give tubists the opportunity to put the lessons the teachers give into practice right away instead of making the students wait until their senior year for any orchestral or chamber experience.
If you are looking at schools, find out how much experience you are going to get while studying at each one. There are many good schools, and no shortage of great teachers, so do your own research to find the best one for you.
