You should go to a local music store and talk to a sales rep about exactally what your recording situation is(what kind of equipment you have, what you're recording, etc.). They will be able to guide you to a good mic for recording your tuba.
P.S. You should try out an Audix D-4, the company claims that it's designed to capture in detail, low frequency instruments. Good Luck!
