Any number of things will move me in many differing ways. Here is a list of some things that currently do it for me:

Brahms 1 (oh yeah, you know the parts . . . )
End of Beethoven 5 (pure glory at the atacca into 4 . . . )
Barber Adagio (As a 4tet, the intimacy and intensity will make you cry, except Emerson 4tet, which plays it too fast!)
Goodbye, Blue Sky – Pink Floyd
Black Coffee – Peggy Lee
Lili Marlene – Marlene Dietrich (auf Deutsch, of course . . . )
Blue Skies – Lavay Smith & her Red Hot Skillet Lickers (great, current SF area swing band!)
Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens – Louis Jordan (faster, "Jump" version)
Begin the Beguine – Sammy Davis, Jr. (not the normal way to do this tune . . . )
Cakewalk into Town – Taj Mahal (hilarious, and has, uh, tuba playing of sorts . . . )
The Dark End Of The Street – Percy Sledge
Saint James Infirmary – Jack Teagarden
Brahms Concerto, mvt 1, cadenza – Heifetz, Reiner, CSO (true perfection of musicianship and technique)
Shubert "Ave, Maria" – Heifetz at the age of 16 (from a wax cylinder recording)
My Funny Valentine – Chet Baker
These Foolish Things – Etta James

These pieces are helping me to get through a really rough time in my life. Thank the powers that be for good martinis, candle light, and powerful music.

I apologize that this was so long.

Wade
