I had one that was built by a Wunderlich in Chicago who was the first instrument maker to be imported from Deutschland by the Chicago Symphony. It was a Kaiser tuba in BBb with 4 rotary valves. The 4th valve was a 23 combination. It had a good sound but was very hard to play in tune. I swapped it for a 4 valve compensating Eb compact tuba built by Hawkes & Sons in about 1879.
