I purchased one of the VAI CSO Historic Telecast DVDs in the hopes of watching some nice closeups of Arnold Jacobs playing. I bought the DVD with the two separate telecasts on it.
Hmmm....one background closeup of Jacobs sitting there.....oh! oh! The camera's zooming in! This is going to be it! Oh....he only emptied the accumulated saliva out of his tuba...there's a couple of shots of him playing....I can sort of make him out if I sit close enough to the screen......oh. The first telecast is over.
Here comes the second telecast! It's in faded colour! Hurrah! There's Arnold Jacobs sitting there, his York by his side......ten minutes later he's still sitting there......there he is again, sitting there......oh. The telecast is over. He sat the whole thing out.
Now, finally, here's my question - did anyone buy the Reiner DVD from this series? Is it more of the above, or is it worth buying??
