What do your friends play? I've done several chamber recitals based on personnel rather than repertoire. In fact, I'm planning an "and friends" program right now. Here's the tentative rep:

Capriccio da Camera--Christer Danielsson (brass quintet)
Double Concerto--Walter Hartley (w/solo saxophone and wind octet)
Three Songs for Soprano and Tuba--Rodger Vaughan
Clouds--Dave Ihlenfeld (piano, using our resident theorist/jazz pianist)
Morning Song--Roger Kellaway (same pianist)
Sonata No. 2--J.S. Bach (harpsichord)

The players are all great colleagues and great musicians, so working it up should be fun.

I've also done the unaccompanied recital idea--actually took it on tour a few years ago. I ended up using a few tape pieces, so technically it wasn't unaccompanied, but I was the only human on the stage. The main challenges are having enough variety on the program and making sure you've got the stamina to get through it! I don't remember everything I played on that one--I'd have to find the programs. Dave Zerkel's exhaustive (and exhausting!) list of rep posted below should give you some good ideas for all types of music. Good luck and have fun!
