Sorry, but I have heard that Floyd Cooley is a horrible teacher. What has been told to me is that he's one of those who has to rely on the fact that listening to them play is an education unto itself in order to get a name as a teacher. The man is a natural and a wonderful player, but because he's a natural he doesn't have a clue about how to tell us mere mortals how to do what he does (granted most of it takes a whole crud load of practice, but you've gotta know what to hammer and he just doesn't tell it). Also, he isn't exactly the coolest of characters. One of the biggest questions in my head is why Floyd didn't get a bow after (I think) Mahler 1 the last time Solti came to San Francisco? What I've been hearing is that it was because of how much of a... you get the idea. Anywho... I hope this helps a little.
