As w/searching for an instrument, the important question here is not "what's the BEST . . .?' but rather "what's right for YOU?" All too often, we get caught up in name brands and forget the simple fact that even though I may own a Mercedes, it doesn't prove that I know how to drive. Make a list of what's important to YOU in a college education and look for those qualities by visiting the schools, getting lessons, and talking to graduates of those schools. The days of "you must go to such and such school to succeed" are long gone. There are so many good schools, teachers and students out there now that the ownus is almost entirely on you. As long as the school that you attend is a good fit for you and you're both knowledgeable and willing when it comes to working hard, it really doesn't matter if it's Conservatory de la Creme or Walmart Tech.
