The sound is darker and more compact than the one of the Sovereigns.

Aside from the Willsons it is the only pro-level euph, which has a one piece bell. It has a wide dynamic bandwith. I have yet to make it break up.

If you buy a YEP641 you are boun dto run into problems with your section mates: the wealth of your sound will dwarf all of them, even if you hardly ever will be sounding as if you push your instrument.

I have added a main tuning slide trigger, which fixes the two doubtful notes of the comping euphs: the low C and B natural. Which turned my 641 into a perfect emergency tuba.

Why has Yamaha discontinued that model: they probably wanted to address the cumstomship of trendy 12" fashionalites. That is OK with me, as I don't suffer from that bad move. I've got one of the real gems.
