It's been almost 40 years ago when I was in high school that I played in the pit band for that musical. There was an old bass sax in the furnace room that had been retired and sent to the bone pile. My instructor told me to go drag it out and see if it would play at all. The bell brace had came unsoldered so we tied a piece of chord around it so the bell wouldn't fall off, used a rubber band or two for some springs and whittled down a 2X4 for a reed and it played amazingly well. Just kidding about the reed. Oh, the memories. Oh, how I wish I had that horn now. I thought it was junk at the time. I had no idea they were so rare.
As I remember, each bassoon had its own fat say.
Oh, I now play tuba also. Don't wana get slamed for talking about a sax.
