I have had the privilage to play under many Band Directors and where the icktis lays from one director to another will vary. Some direct ahead of the beat, some right on the beat, and some have no icktis. "That way they are never wrong" hhehehheehgrrrrrrr Belt buckle high would be a good icktis point, and no matter what is heard tubas are always accused of being behind the the beat. If playing every other note in a measure tuba players could be already on the third beat and the rest of the band on first or second beat and directors will stop and stereo typ the bass line is behind. Thats when just a friendly smile will do. Well at least for the tuba section Gurrrrrrrrrrrrrr ???????????
