I'm not a tuba player, but I will tell you what I did to break in the valves on my euphonium. When I first had the horn, I was pulling out the pistons, wiping them down (with a rag that doesn't leave dust), re-oling them, and putting them back in. I was doing this everyday for the first couple weeks and started needing to do it less and less often. It could also be that the valves are really beginning to hone into the casing. This didn't happen with my Willson until it was six months old, but there's not much you can do about that. The other theory and this one is worth a serious look, how clean are your valves and casings? It couldn't hurt to clean them and see if that makes a difference. Hope this helps.
