Any conscious notions to 'anticipate' the beat are doomed to failure IMO...
Playing 'on top of the beat' or 'at the front of the beat' are comments which may apply well but really you just need to use your ears (and eyes - conductors DO help sometimes!) and encourage others to do so also.
