If you want to get into the logistics of it, yes. But the only difference between a tuba and contrabass when it comes to drum corps marching units is the key. The boring out of the horn is very similar. Contrabass bugles of old were in G, these contrabass models are in BBb. I think of them as contras. But that's my opinion.
