Man, I wish Acoustical Physics 101 was later in the day. They only held that class at 8am, and I was usually still asleep. I think I follow most of this, but certainly not all of it.
The thing I like about heavy wall mouthpieces, duct tape, leather belts, or monsterweights, is you can experiment with them...put more on, take some off.
But, aren't brass rods soldered into the bell kinda like...permanent? How do you know that 3 are enough and 4 are too many? Does the heat from soldering inside the bell ruin the laquer on the outside?
