The only advantage I would see to a top loading gig bag would be if the zipper breaks you dont have to worry about your horn falling down on the ground because the zipper is at the top. I also think that is a benefit to a top loader is you're not worrying about the zipper breaking and your horn getting damaged. The only bad thing I can think about with a top loader is if you have a tall horn, its a little more difficult to pick the horn up and put it in the bag. When I ordered my Dolly I ordered a side loading bag because they are a lot easier to put your horn in, but she messed up and made it a top loading bag and being a somewhat of an anti-top loading bag person, I have no complaints about this one. Im kind of glad she made it top loading. I say just be happy with whatever bag you have and as long as it works for you then its a good bag. -Ryan
