I had a Conn International 97J for a number of years as my primary horn. I was happy with the horn, but traded for a King because I decided that a more "American" sound was more appropriate for the community band in which I do most of my playing. I was told that it was made by Cerveny and was the equivalent to a Cerveny 786. It seemed well made with nice features and played well.

I don't know if Cerveny makes all of the Conn International instruments, but I believe that all of the Conn International instruments are "stencil" horns, made by European manufacturers. I understand that the Musica line UMI tubas were made by B&S.

Some have argued that stencil horns aren't as well made as horns with the manufacturers own name on them. I don't think that this is the case with these Conn International instruments.
