I've found out over the years that (by in large) talk is cheap.
With the internet at your disposal, why not invest in these instruments and sell to end-users, not worrying about dealers, their current business situations, and their margins?
Going off on a tangent topic, I think there are a lot of good used tubas floating around right now, and have been for quite some time. The above-$2000 tuba market is a pretty tough one, these days, as buyers have many options. There is a well-known former tuba distributor here in the U.S. that (wisely, IMO) got out of the tuba business and much more heavily into flutes:
- super-low shipping costs
- far less dent-and-scratch
- many more potential customers
Even he is talking about possibly getting back into the tuba business "someday", but right now probably isn't the right time.
Best wishes to you, sir.
