For those of you interested in using a digital tuner I've just found a great new toy! The Korg OT-12 with comtact mic. The clip on mic picks up low tuba frequencies with ease, as does the tuner. Other tuners I've used only go as low as C1. This was reading E0 a fourth below the piano.
